Blog #6- Week 3!

Not only have I had a great learning opportunity so far with the Cleveland Sports Commission, but I have developed a lot of skills; some that I already knew about and some that I didn't. First of all, the experience of working downtown has been really cool. I am already comfortable driving downtown and have done it a lot before, but it really adds to the experience of making me feel independent with this project. Just when I thought I had seen it all, I see a new part of Cleveland that I didn't know existed. I have to find parking which is full of ups and downs, and I make the walk to the office alongside all different kinds of people going about their days in the city. The office itself is something that really surprised me, and in a good way. I am really interested in business, but I have known for a while that I didn't just want to have a job where I sit at a plain desk every day. The Sports Commission's office was extremely lively to the point where it didn't even feel like an office. The desk space had privacy but also an open-concept aspect to it. There are signs, banners, and photos all over the walls from different events that have been hosted in Cleveland. There is a giant bar table in the kitchen for everyone to eat together. Lastly, and one of my favorites, is one of the conference rooms that I actually got to hangout in my first day there for the project. It was fun and colorful and had super cool chairs. On the wall was a giant mural that had originally been drawn on an Etch a Sketch and blown up and colored to the wall. The original Etch a Sketch is actually framed on the very same wall! There is also a view straight out into the streets of Cleveland where we can see out but nobody else can see it, giving a really cool perspective to ongoing city life outside. I also got to go out and pick my lunch when I was downtown, so I got to broaden my food horizons as well which was very exciting for me.
